Good School ? Bad School ?

The United States public education is really awful, especially in California. It is ranked as 49th in all the 50 states. Usually elementary school is half day, parents need to pay high extra dollars for after school programs. Further, the teachers’ qualification is usually questionable and the teacher-student ratio is extremely high. It is almost impossible for this system to spot talented students and educate them to their full potential. It is a quite hopeless situation.

So, where did all the tax money go? Most likely to Iraq and eventually those corruptive officers and oil companies. Cutting educational expense appears to be a continous mission of Bush administration. Democratic party is actually no better, if I have to say.

Not sure about other parents, but I feel somewhat devastated in the environment and have to choose to send my daughter to a private school. At least the teachers smile at you and your kids, not mentioning the palace-like buildings and facilities. I think Montessori school has one of the best educational philosophies although it may not be suitable for every kid. Watch out though, there are also very bad Montessori schools and they even hire un-authorized personals as their teachers.

I heard there are very good public schools too. However, its neighborhood housing price skyrockets. Nothing comes in free. California has good weather and beautiful sunshine, in the meanwhile, we pay higher tax and living expense than most of other states. But Mr. terminator or other California governer is doing a creepy job in terms of education.
