Love Envelopes

Katherine made all these Valentine's cards and love envelopes for her class.
Isn't it cute?

In US, Kids would learn about all these social activities right from the beginning.
"Cut and Paste", arts, drawings are all important parts of her academic records.
But statistics show US students were lapped behind other countries from middle schools, especially in math and science.

Maybe Chinese elementary education is a good one after all, all those knowledge base inputs and thinking habits. We all come out of it. And, actually, I am proud of that.
Who cares if you can cook good cookies when entering university?

Olympic Smiling Face

I had sent Katherine's photo to the olympic "Smiling Face" office, hope she can be chosen.

One of her 3 month photo ( A very cute one) was published in a book "Spirit of the Youth", forgot to brag about it :-)

Is there anyone else as enthusiastic as me about the Olympic game in Beijing?

换牙了

小女昨天掉了第一颗下门牙。 还好，她很镇静，虽然流了点血， 但估计并不疼痛。 倒是我，有些惊慌失措。

这也是成长的烦恼吧。她差不多正好六岁半了， 一般六到七岁换第一颗牙的。

Stuffy Factory

Thanks for the stuffy factory toy we bought yesterday, finally Katherine made several stuffy girls for herself after owning hundreds of stuffy animals, cartoon chracters and all other kinds of stuffy friends. I believe she has almost everything in the stuffy product lines --- all in series collection --- Care bears, Dora(s), TeleTubbies, Hello Kitties, Baniyanigens (?), Piglets, Leos, Miss. Spiders ... She remebers all her collections and would exactly recall what she has missed in the series in the store. For this, I seldom disppoint her except when she had been extremely bad during the week.


Finally she knows how a stuffy animal was made. It is out of hard work and delication! I felt like the "深圳打工妹" when we used the stuffy factory machine to make her toys yesterday. Those hard working girls! It is a good toy design,
to bring the kids in the stuffy process.

Gmail Account

Somehow my 4 year old can log into my Gmail account and mess around with my messages.
It looks there isn't a way to disable the automatic login once I enable it. Faint!
Isn't this dangerous? I heard that there had been a 3 years old bought a car online for his parents :-)

The Hat Day

This is a beautiful story --- A kid with cancer got bold from some chemical treatment and had to wear hat to school. He felt sad but only finding out all his classmates were wearing hats, to be with him... Now there is a foundation called "Heavenly Hats" established and named after the story. It is getting very popular in schools.

Today is Katherine's school hat day, to raise fund for the organization. Most kids wore hats to school. All kinds of hats, even some Halloween costume hats. Students also would ask their parents to donate or volunteer for the event.

This is a noble cause and I'd very much like to participate. I wish most of the donated money would go to the cancer treatment research, just like I know this is impossible.

In those non-profit organizations, usually over half of the raised money would go to overhead --- administration, events organization, awareness, etc. Everybody knows about the breast cancer organization, right? There are those pink ribbons everywhere. But from Reader's Digest report, 70% of those donations went to programs in raising more fund about it, very little goes straight to breast cancer research. What a waste of money!
